Act 827 of the 2009 Regular Session created a pilot program for mobile learning technology in public school districts in Arkansas. According to the Act, the Department of Education shall begin a pilot program with the 2010-2011 school year. Each public school district participating in the pilot shall equip up to three school buses with wireless Internet service and specific mobile learning technology. The public school district may use foundation funding provided for technology or other funding sources to purchase the equipment. There is not a specific appropriation or designated funds provided to implement the pilot at either the district or state level.
