The purpose of this memorandum to transmit the Arkansas Department of Education in response to the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act Amendments of 1997 and its implementing regulations. These regulations, published in the documents Special Education and Related Services Procedural Requirements and Program Standards (ADE, 2000) and Special Education Eligibility Criteria and Program Guidelines for Children with Disabilities, Ages 3-21 (ADE, 2000), were adopted by the State Board of Education at its May 8, 2000, meeting and reviewed, with no objections, by the Legislative Council Rules and Regulations Review Committee on June 1, 2000.

The regulations are available on the ADE web site at http://arkedu.state.ar.us/specialeducation.htm and will be disseminated later this summer in print copy.
