Prior to admission to an Arkansas public school, a parent, guardian, or responsible person shall furnish the child's social security number to the school. If the parent or guardian objects to the use of the social security number a nine (9) digit number designated by the Department of Education can be used. School districts were sent a range of numbers to be used in June 1991. If the district can no longer locate this range of numbers, contact Donna Wolfe, Academic Standards and Assessment, for these numbers. When a student transfers from another Arkansas public school and already has a 900-00-0000 series number assigned, use that assigned number. Do not assign a new number.
