A revised Arkansas Social Studies Curriculum Framework was developed this summer by a committee of educators from throughout Arkansas. It is pending approval by the State Board of Education. Barbara Patty, Social Studies Specialist at the Department, will facilitate three two-hour videoconferences on Wednesday and Thursday, October 25 and 26, to discuss the new document with district representatives via compressed video. You may check the Department web site within the two weeks prior to the videoconference to see whether the revision has been posted.
The sessions are scheduled over the two days as shown below, and each education service cooperative has set one particular date and time for districts in the cooperative area. There will be opportunities for educators to ask questions about the new document. A district may send only one representative due to space limitations in the sites' facilities.
