The Arkansas Department of Education-Special Education is pleased to announce that on December 7, 2000, Dr. Cecil Reynolds will be visiting Little Rock to present a one-day training session on the Behavior Assessment System for Children (BASC). Drs. Reynolds and Randy Kamphaus are the authors of the BASC.
Specifically, Dr. Reynolds will address the following:
1) how to use and interpret information obtained on the direct observation form of the BASC,
2) how to use this information for programming,
3) when to use the BASC,
4) when to refer for more or additional testing or evaluation,
5) who should complete the forms and when, (i.e., parents, teachers, students), and
6) how to correctly interpret scores.
School Psychology Specialists, psychologists, psychological examiners, educational examiners, counselors, and behavioral consultants are especially encouraged to attend.
Dr. Reynolds is currently a practicing clinical psychologist and a professor at Texas A & M University. He has authored many professional articles and books, among which is his recent publication The Handbook of School Psychology, Third Edition, in association with Dr. Terry Gutkin of the University of Nebraska.
This workshop will be held at the Administrative Annex of the North Little Rock School District at the corner of North Poplar Street and East 22nd Street in North Little Rock. The annex was formerly a church, so will be readily recognizable.
Parking will be, for the most part, available on the street and within a couple of blocks walking distance.
If you wish to attend, please call 1-800-482-8437 to register. If you have questions, you may also call this number. Ask for Dr. Don Boyd or Ms. Beverly Smart.
The workshop will be held from 8:30 AM until 3:30 PM, with lunch (on your own) from 11:30 to 1:00.
