The Safe and Drug-Free Schools and Communities Act (SDFSCA) of 1994, Title IV, requires states to make available grant funds, provide technical assistance and training to Local Educational Agencies. The Office of Comprehensive Health Education, Safe and Drug-Free Schools and Communities (SDFSC) will conduct an in-service training on December 11-12, 2000, at the Riverfront Hilton in North Little Rock, Arkansas. Registration will be from 8:00 a.m. to 9:00 a.m. on both days. A continental breakfast and lunch will be provided on both days. The training will be provided for SDFSC Drug Education Coordinators or the designated representative who is responsible for managing the SDFSC Program and the SDFSC program budget.
On Monday, December 11, 2000, the training will be held ONLY for PERSONS WHO HAVE BEEN THE SDFSC DRUG EDUCATION COORDINATOR for TWO (2) years or more. The following topics will be addressed: Management of the Grant Application, Budget Management, Non-regulatory Guidelines and the Implementation of the Principles of Effectiveness.
On Tuesday, December 12, 2000, the training will be held ONLY for PERSONS WHO HAVE BEEN THE SDFSC DRUG EDUCATION COORDINATOR for LESS THAN TWO (2) years, or the designated representative for the 1999-2000 SDFSC Program grant year. The same topics will be discussed, but will provide more hands-on technical assistance for new coordinators.
Due to limited space, ONLY two (2) persons per school district may participate. Individuals will be responsible for their own lodging cost and for making their own hotel reservation.
