The proposed Amnesty Amendment to Rules and Regulations Governing the Licensure Laws and Regulations Concerning Standard License Renewal was approved by the State Board of Education at the December 11, 2000 meeting.

This means that those individuals whose standard teaching license has been expired longer than one year, may now renew that standard teaching license without meeting the testing and/or the recency of experience requirement. Individuals whose licenses were effective during the 1984-85 school year who did not meet the requirements of Act 350 are not eligible under the provisions of this amnesty amendment.

Those individuals interested in renewing their license under this Amnesty Amendment may do so between January 1, 2001 and September 30, 2001 by submitting an application for renewal of their license and submitting to the criminal background check. The necessary forms may be secured through the Office of Professional Licensure by calling 1-501-682-4344.

The Rules and Regulations for this Amnesty Amendment as approved by the State Board of Education are attached for your information.
