Arkansas Code annotated 6-16-603 and 6-16-604 (Repl. 1993) mandates that a College Preparatory Enrichment Program (CPEP) be made available for eleventh and twelfth grade students scoring below 19 on the American College Test (ACT). The enclosed form is to be used by superintendents to indicate their participation in CPEP 2001. School districts may operate independently, establish a consortium with a neighboring district (s), assign funds to the area education service cooperative, or higher education institution. All funds MUST be spent for the operation of CPEP or returned to the state.
Funds for the 2001 summer remedial program will be distributed to school districts based on a poverty index calculated for the percentage of free/reduced meals. Superintendents will be notified of the funding allocation for their district by April. When making plans for CPEP, we strongly encourage you to remain within your allocated amount. School districts, consortia, area education service cooperatives, or higher education institutions designated as service area sites, which exceed their allotment, will not be reimbursed.

Conformation of Participation and the CPEP Statement of Assurance forms will be mailed to the Project Director indicated on your Intent to Participate form.
