In an effort to assist schools in meeting the requirements of IDEA, the Special Education Unit of the Arkansas Department of Education established a task force to develop a new database of goals and objectives for the computerized Individualized Education Program (IEP). These new goals and objectives are correlated to the State's curriculum frameworks and standards for general education, and will enable IEP teams to tie a student's IEP goals and objectives directly to the general education curriculum.
Training for special education supervisors or their designated staff in the use of the revised database for the computerized IEP will be held March 29 at participating education cooperatives. The training will originate in Little Rock via compressed video with facilitators at each site. Registration will be from 8:30 to 9 a.m. The training will begin at 9:00 a.m. and will conclude by 3 p.m. Lunch will be on your own.
In order to serve as many school districts as possible, participation at each site is limited to two representatives per school district. Registration will be on a "first-come, first-served" basis. Participants will be notified by March 15 if their registration has been accepted. There is an attachment to this memorandum indicating training sites and the maximum number of partcipants that will be accepted. To register, complete the attached Registration Form and return no later than March 9, 2001 to:
