The Arkansas Department of Education (ADE) will hold a technical assistance workshop for charter school organizers on May 30 and 31, 2001 at the DoubleTree Hotel in downtown Little Rock. The workshop is intended to assist groups researching, planning or implementing a new charter school. This free workshop is open to groups developing a conversion charter, limited charter or open-enrollment charter school.
The workshop will feature a number of presenters from the ADE and will cover a variety of areas including application design, procedural requirements, curriculum design, school finance, facilities, student and teacher insurance, teacher retirement, grant opportunities, child nutrition, special education, federal programs and more. Any group submitting a letter of intent to apply for a charter is strongly encouraged to attend this annual workshop. Other groups interested in learning more about charter schools and the issues involved in starting a school are also invited to attend.
