Requests are now being received for early release/waiver days for school year 2001-2002. A request for early release/waiver days for professional development should include the following:
An assurance statement that the 30-hour minimum professional development required of teachers has been met; a short statement of need for professional development early release/waiver days; a complete description of the content planned, showing alignment of that content with the Guiding Principles for Professional Development adopted by the State Board of Education; and a calendar of dates for the professional development early release/waiver days.
The early release/waiver days requests should be sent to Dr. Gayle Potter, Associate Director of Academic Standards and Assessment no later than August 1 preceding the start of school year 2001-2002. After approving the professional development content, the requests for early release/waiver days will be forwarded to the Coordinator of the Standards Assurance Unit for calendar approval and for notification of the applicant school.
