All students must be included in the Arkansas Comprehensive Testing, Assessment and Accountability Program (ACTAAP) as a requirement of Arkansas Act 999 of 1999. The Arkansas Department of Education, the Arkansas Special Education Resource Center, and the Easter Seals Outreach Program are sponsoring regional training during fall 2001 to assist school personnel in becoming better prepared to participate in the Alternate Portfolio Assessment program for students with disabilities. This alternate assessment is designed for students who do not qualify for the standard benchmark testing. The training sessions include an overview of the Arkansas Assessment process, how and why to align Individualized Education Program (IEP) goals and objective with the Arkansas State Curriculum Frameworks and how to develop and construct portfolio assessment as part of the ACTAAP process. The majority of the workshops will include practice in the alignment of curriculum with the AR Curriculum Frameworks and the construction of portfolio entries. The workshops are for a full day, with the exception of August 24.
