Attached is the ADE required form for requesting Induction/Mentoring support funding for ALL 1ST YEAR NON-TRADITIONAL TEACHERS (NTL) HIRED FOR THE 2001-2002 SCHOOL YEAR. Each novice non-traditional teacher hired by a school district must be assigned a Pathwise-trained site-based mentor to assist in the teacher's professional growth and provide necessary support as these novice teachers move through their first two years in the classroom as teachers. Funding in the amount of $2,000 per NTL teacher will be sent to the employing school district to compensate the Pathwise mentor and support professional development activities of the novice NTL teacher. Districts should use the "Appropriate Expenditures Guidelines" attached in making decisions about expenditures for the novice teacher and compensation for the assigned mentor. Mentors must be trained and assigned to each 1st year NTL teacher by SEPTEMBER 1, 2001, with those assignments identified and submitted to ADE by SEPTEMBER 15, 2001.
