A second cohort of training for the Non-Traditional Licensure Program is being offered. Applications will be accepted until September 22, 2001. Application forms are attached to this memo as a PDF file and can be down loaded. (To download this application form an Adobe Acrobat Reader is required. Weekend training sessions will begin in September, 2001 and will continue throughout the 2001-02 school year. Additionally, two full weeks of training are required for candidates for December 17-21, 2001 and January 7-11, 2002. All candidates are required to attend each training session.

School districts may employ candidates through the following process:
„Y Candidates may be employed initially as long-term substitute teachers.
„Y Candidates must register for and successfully complete all required Praxis testing during the fall semester, 2001. Testing registration information is available through www.teachingandlearning.org or from a local university testing center. PLEASE NOTE: THE LAST DATE TO REGISTER FOR THE FIRST TESTING SESSION IS AUGUST 21, 2001. CANDIDATES MAY LATE REGISTER FOR AN ADDITIONAL FEE UNTIL AUGUST 28, 2001.
„Y Exceptionally well-qualified candidates (those with a Master¡¦s degree or above) may have some of the testing requirements waived. Each such candidate should contact one of the individuals listed below before registering for a test to confirm if a waiver is applicable for that candidate.
„Y Candidates must possess a bachelor¡¦s level degree or higher.
„Y Candidates must submit to the ADE Office of Non-Traditional Licensure:
„« three letters of personal reference,
„« completed application,
„« official transcripts from all higher education institutions attended,
„« criminal background check,
„« score reports from any professional assessment previously completed (PPST, GRE, GMAT, Praxis I or II, etc.) Exceptionally well-qualified candidates (those with a Master¡¦s degree or above) may have some of the testing requirements waived. (See above)
When candidates have completed the application process and successfully completed all required assessments, a Non-Traditional Provisional teaching license will be issued.

No additional cohort training program for Non-Traditional Licensure will be offered until summer, 2002. Interested candidates may begin the application process for that training in the spring, 2002.
