The purpose of this memorandum is to provide information regarding the satellite downlink of a conference sponsored by the National Association of State Directors of Special Education (NASDSE). The teleconference, School-wide Strategies for Violence Prevention," will broadcast on September 19, 2001, from 12:00 Noon until 2:00 PM CDT.

The conference will provide participants with preventive strategies that support school personnel and students and help create a positive, healthy, and safe school environment. Participants will learn to: identify characteristics of antisocial and violent youth; secure school buildings using crime prevention through environmental design; create a positive inclusive school culture; address the peer culture and its problems of bullying and harassment; involve parents in making the school safer; and develop a plan to improve school climate and safety.

Attached to this memorandum is the technical information for downlinking the broadcast, as well as, information about the presenter. There is no fee for accessing this teleconference. This teleconference will be downlinked at the educational cooperatives.
