The Arkansas Department of Education (ADE) has recently been awarded a grant from the US Department of Education: Partnership for Character Education Pilot Sites. Through this federal grant a one-time only sub-grant will be available to local education agencies. On November 13, 2001, a special event conference highlighting the five pilot sites for the Character Centered-Teaching Model will be held in Conway, Arkansas, at the Agora Conference Center. The conference will also be the mechanism for releasing the Request For Proposal (RFP) application. The afternoon sessions will focus on the RFP components, providing training and technical assistance on each section of the application. Attendance at the conference is not required to submit an application. The RFP will be made available on the ADE web site via a Director's Memo by November 14, 2001.
