The Arkansas Comprehensive Testing, Assessment and Accountability Program (ACTAAP) requires that alternate assessments be used for eligible Limited English Proficient (LEP) students who cannot participate in the regular Benchmark assessment and for eligible students with disabilities for whom the Alternate Portfolio Assessment is appropriate under their Individualized Education Program (IEP). The Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA) requires that an alternate assessment system for eligible Special Education students be in place for the 2001 - 2002 school year.
An extra workshop on Alternate Portfolio Assessment has been scheduled to be delivered via compressed video on January 22, 2002, from 9:00 AM - 11:30 AM. The following sites are open for registration: ADE - Main (Arch Ford Building), ADE - Maumelle, Crowley's Ridge Education Service Cooperative, Southwest Arkansas Education Service Cooperative, and the Southeast Arkansas Education Service Cooperative. Due to limited seating pre-registration is required on a first come first served basis.
