The Arkansas Association of Middle Level Administrators (AAMLA), in cooperation with the Arkansas Department of Education, is sponsoring a one-day conference featuring Bena Kallick at the Peabody Hotel, Little Rock on February 7, 2002.
An extension of Smart Step, "Making Sense Out of the Pieces: Curriculum, Instruction and Assessment" will focus on the many aspects of instruction and how to bring all of the pieces together as a whole. Curriculum mapping will be discussed and tied to other parts of instruction as a hub for revising curriculum, focusing on instructional practices, and using assessment data to drive decision-making. Examples from schools across the country and practical ideas will be given.
All building-level administrators of grades 5-8 are encouraged to bring Smart Step facilitators and middle level teacher teams.
The conference begins with a "Get Acquainted Reception" on Wednesday evening, February 6, from 7:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. in the balcony area of the Peabody Hotel. Everyone is invited to the reception to meet other middle level educators. The conference program will be on Thursday, February 7 from 9:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.
For conference reservations, call the AAMLA office at 501-372-1691.
