The Twenty-Second Annual Conference on Gifted Education, co-sponsored by the Arkansans for Gifted and Talented Education (AGATE) and the Arkansas Department of Education, will be held February 6-8, 2002, at the Hot Springs Convention Center, Hot Springs, Arkansas. This year's theme, "Together We Achieve The Extraordinary" will feature several nationally recognized presenters and concurrent sessions led by specialists in the field of gifted education from Arkansas and surrounding states. In conjunction with this year's conference will be the Sixth Annual Administrators' Institute on Thursday, February 7, 2002. The theme of this year's institute is "A look at Diversity and Your Gifted Program."
A special highlight this year will be Wednesday's pre-conference day with nationally recognized keynotes Dr. Sally Reis, Gifted Females; Dr. Del Siegle, Infusing Technology; Dr. Jann Leppien, Writing Quality Curriculum; Dr. Karen Westberg, Enhancing the Quality of Student Research Projects; and Dr. Tracy Cross, On Social and Emotional Lives of Gifted Children (a special session for parents) on Wednesday February 6, 2nd Floor Austin Hotel. Registration is $75 and walk-ins are welcome.
Regular Conference registration of $125 can be mailed to AGATE, Hot Springs Convention and Visitors Bureau, Attn: Donna Weatherford, P. O. Box K, Hot Springs, AR 71902, by January 18. Registrations after January 18, 2002, will include a late registration fee ($140 total).
