Raymond Simon, Director of the Department of Education, and Dr. Sean Mulvenon, representing the Office of Research, Measurement and Evaluation from the University of Arkansas College of Education and Health Professions, will conduct a video teleconference on Wednesday, February 13, 2002 to begin at 1:30 p.m. The teleconference will originate from the Department of Education with viewing sites at each of the regional service cooperatives. The purpose of the teleconference is to conduct an open forum on two model proposals: “Assessment and Accountability Program Scoring System: Measuring Performance Honors,” and “Remediation Rates and Grade Point Averages: Is there Grade Inflation in Arkansas?” Copies of these documents are available on the Department of Education Web site http://arkedu.state.ar.us posted under “What’s New.”
Following introductory remarks from Mr. Simon and Dr. Mulvenon, there will be an opportunity for questions concerning the proposals from participants across the state.
Those interested in viewing the teleconference and participating in the dialogue should plan to arrive at the viewing site by 1:20 p.m.
