The Arkansas Historical Association will host the third Arkansas History Summer Institute on the University of Central Arkansas at Conway campus, June 16-28, 2002. The twelve-day workshop will provide training in Arkansas history for primary and secondary social studies teachers.
The workshop format will include lectures by highly regarded Arkansas
history scholars, lesson plans construction and effective pedagogical techniques led by master teachers, as well as field trips and historic tours around our state. Guest speakers will address topics ranging from factual history to historic preservation to the use of museums as a teaching tool. This will aid schools across the state in meeting the recent legislative mandate requiring instruction in the state's history.
The ten-day workshop will provide participating teachers with free meals and resident lodging. They will receive free materials and books. The participants will have the opportunity of receiving in-service hours or three undergraduate or graduate credit hours. Registration and fees will be paid by the sponsor.
