Due to realignment of funds this last year, the Advanced Placement (AP) Incentive Program will not be able to continue making payments and reimbursements at the same level that has been used since 1995. In order that teachers and schools do not incur expenses that can no longer be reimbursed, please make note of the modifications for payments that are now in effect:
1. As of this memo, there will be no reimbursements for any out-of-state professional development. This includes one-day workshops, two-day conferences, and summer institutes. There will be three summer institutes in Arkansas for the summer of 2002 and reimbursements will still be available for these (UAF, July 22-26, Dr. Suzanne McCray, 479-575-3161; UALR conducted at ASMS, June 17-21 and June 24-28, Tommie Sue Anthony, 501-569-3410).
2. There will be no AP equipment/materials grants for 2002-2003. Districts who were approved for 2001-2002 will still be reimbursed.
3. The exam fee subsidy of $45 per exam for students on free/reduced lunch will continue to be paid by the Arkansas Department of Education. Also the $50 exam fee subsidy for any student taking more than two exams in the same year will continue to be paid by the Department.
4. The score incentive of $50 for each score of 3 or better on the College Board AP Exams will continue for the May 2002 Exams.
The Arkansas Department of Education is sorry for any inconvenience that this may cause. If funds are reinstated at a later date, consideration will be given to the reinstatement of these deleted areas.
