On Monday, April 8, 2002, the State Board of Education will again consider recommendations concerning the Measuring Performance Honors (MPH) model that is proposed as a means by which schools may qualify for performance rewards. In preparation for that meeting, Director of Education, Raymond Simon, has scheduled a teleconference to present revisions to the initial proposal and to provide an additional opportunity for teachers to pose questions and hear responses from Mr. Simon and others who assisted with development of the model.
This teleconference is scheduled to air on Wednesday, April 3, 2002 from 4:00 – 4:30 p.m. This time was selected so that teachers may participate and not conflict with the instructional day. The teleconference will originate from the Department of Education. There will be a receive site at each of the regional service cooperatives; Fayetteville, England, and Lincoln Consolidated school districts; AETN; Arkansas Teacher Retirement; ADE Main; and Maumelle I & ll.
The full text of the Measuring Performance Honors model as well as an executive summary can be linked from the Department of Education Web site home page http://arkedu.state.ar.us.
A portion of this teleconference will be devoted to responding to specific questions about the model and its implementation. Teachers and others having questions about the document should fax those questions to the Department of Education using the following number – 501-682-1079. Those attending the teleconference will also have an opportunity to pose questions during the teleconference.
