The Poverty Index Funds for 2002-2003 will be funded at 8.5 million dollars. It will be distributed to schools with 72% or more Kindergarten (K) and Grade 1 (1) students that are eligible to receive free and/or reduced priced meals, divided by the number of K1 students enrolled. Notices were sent to schools eligible to receive Poverty Index Funds on April 2, 2002. Half of the funds will be distributed no later than August 5, 2002. The Attachment shows each school's K1 percent of free and/or reduced students, and the amount of funding each qualifying school will receive.
