The Arkansas Department of Education (ADE) and the State Mathematics Specialists announce the opportunity for teachers and administrators in Grades K-12 to participate in a nationally recognized professional development seminar with a focus on improving mathematics instruction and student achievement. Three sections of the Marilyn Burns Math Solutions seminars will be offered July 29-August 2, 2002. All sessions will be held at Clinton Elementary Magnet School in Sherwood.
Math Solutions I (K-8 – grade level specific sections)
Math Solutions II* (K-8 – prerequisite: completion of Math Solutions I)
High School Math Solutions* (Grade 8-12 – focus on algebra and geometry)
*Enrollment limited to 40 participants.
At the conclusion of the training, mathematics specialists in the education cooperatives or university centers will be prepared to facilitate appropriate school level follow-up training in areas such as: building students’ skills in a specific mathematics content strand, enhancing questioning in the classroom, writing in mathematics, developing and scoring open response items, using embedded assessment to make instructional decisions, etc.
Cost for materials and registration: $375.00
