The purpose of this Director's Communication is to provide information regarding the satellite downlink of a conference sponsored by the National Association of State Directors of Special Education (NASDSE). The teleconference, "Reading and Much More: The LANGUAGE! Curriculum," will be broadcast on May 8, 2002, from 12:00 Noon until 2:00 PM CDT.
The conference highlights a comprehensive literacy intervention curriculum, LANGUAGE! designed for learning disabled, English language learners, and any other student, whose literacy levels measure below grade level. The curriculum integrates reading, writing, spelling, vocabulary, grammar, language usage, and composition. Based on thousands of scientific investigations documented by the National Reading Panel, LANGUAGE! has resulted in significant gains in diverse school districts across the nation.
