Arkansas Code Annotated 6-18-508 (d)(1)(A) (1995 Suppl.) has a reporting requirement intended to update the legislature on the status of the Alternative Learning Environment. Each school district shall report to the Arkansas Department of Education (ADE), on a yearly basis, the race, gender and other pertinent information regarding students placed in an alternative learning environment. This information shall be reported by the ADE to the Joint Interim Oversight Subcommittee on Educational Reform of the Joint Interim Committee on Education of the General Assembly by September 15 of each year. Reports are now due for the 2000-2001 and 2001-2002 school years. Attached are the reporting forms for both years.

The reports presented to the legislature will be based on the information received by that date from public school superintendents. All public school districts must be accounted for in the reports to the legislature, including a report category for “Lack of Response From Superintendents.”
