In September 2001, the calculated per school day amount for residential education costs of $55.08 was reduced to $44.61. This reduction was based on our projection of program capacity and anticipated utilization in the 2002 school year.
It now appears that reimbursement requests will not exceed available funding authorized in Act 1667 of 2001 for this program. However, the Arkansas Department of Education, Special Education, will be able to restore the rate back to the original level of $55.08 per day for reimbursement requests only for the last two quarters of this fiscal year.
The original rate can only be applied to eligible reimbursement requests submitted prior to the end of the current state fiscal year because funds appropriated in Act 1667 do not carry forward from this fiscal year to the next. Only those requests received in this fiscal year, for services provided during the last two quarters of this fiscal year, will be eligible for reimbursement at the restored rate.
To be considered for reimbursement at the restored rate, all requests for services provided during the last two quarters of this fiscal year must be submitted by June 17, 2002 to:
