The norm-referenced examination for the 2002-2003 school year will be Stanford Achievement Test, Ninth Edition. The decision was made in May following the recommendation of a committee of educators from throughout the state to continue the use of this examination. It will allow our state to continue the planning process for implementation of the ESEA Federal Legislation, No Child Left Behind.
In January 2002, the State Board of Education voted to move the norm referenced testing to the spring. The testing window for the 2002-2003 school year will be April 14 – 25, 2003.
Test dates for the 2002-2003 school year are as follows: (Note: Benchmark dates were previously released.)
January 28, 2003: Mid-Year End of Course Algebra Exam (Tuesday)
January 30, 2003: Mid-Year End of Course Geometry Exam (Thursday)
April 7-11, 2003: Primary Benchmark, Intermediate Benchmark, and Middle Level Benchmark Exams (with testing sessions on specific days of the week)
April 9-10, 2003: End of Course Literacy (Wednesday, April 9 and Thursday, April 10)
April 14- 25, 2003: Stanford 9 Testing Window
April 29, 2003: End of Course Algebra Exam (Tuesday)
May 1, 2003: End of Course Geometry Exam (Thursday)
PLEASE ARRANGE YOUR 2002-2003 SCHOOL CALENDAR TO ACCOMMODATE THESE LEGALLY REQUIRED TESTING DATES. THERE WILL BE NO WAIVERS GRANTED FROM THESE DATES.
