State and school officials recognize that transportation is one of the most vital and visible support systems for Arkansas public school students. Every school day, more than 4,900 school buses are driven over 350,000 miles transporting approximately 300,000 students to and from Arkansas schools. Accordingly, A.C.A. 6-19-117(f) designated the first week of each school year as "School Bus Safety Week."
Schools are encouraged to participate in Arkansas School Bus Safety Week by conducting activities throughout the district. Please contact Theresa Chong at 501-682-4264 to receive an activity booklet.
