Registration is now open for the “Arkansas Schools Are For All Kids” (AR-SAFAK) workshops on inclusion, to be sponsored during the 2002-2003 school year by the Arkansas Department of Education (ADE), Special Education Unit. The two-day training will be offered at five regional sites in the state in the fall of 2002.
As schools work to ensure that no child is left behind, schools are seeking ways to effectively develop and implement inclusive policies and improve test scores for all students. The AR-SAFAK training has been adapted to meet these needs by a committee of Arkansans from school districts, higher education, state consultants and the ADE, Special Education Unit.
Schools participating in AR-SAFAK must select a team to attend the training that includes the building principal or assistant principal, at least one general education teacher and one special education teacher. Other suggested team members are parents, special education supervisors, superintendents and related services personnel. Team membership should not exceed six persons.
The registration fee is $45 per person. All training materials/manuals and lunch for both days will be provided on-site.
IMPORTANT: Registration must be received by September 20, 2002. Registration will not be accepted after September 20.
Registration for the training will be conducted through the Arkansas Special Education Resource Center (ASERC). Register by e-mailing ljohnson@arkedu.k12.ar.us or fax the completed form to 501-663-7363. Registrations may also be mailed to:
