The Arkansas Department of Education, in collaboration with the Easter Seals Outreach Program, will be offering seven (7) videoconference training opportunities during the 2002-2003 school year dealing with the topic of augmentative and alternative communication systems. Individual Disability Education Act (IDEA) 97 states that each child’s need for assistive technology must be considered as part of the Individualized Education Programs (IEP) process. The training sessions are designed for IEP team members who teach students that use DynaVox or Prentke Romich communication systems to support the students' communication needs at school.
There is no registration fee for this training. The workshops will begin with a test signal at 8:30 a.m., start at 9:00 a.m., and conclude by 12:00 noon. The attachments contain workshop dates, locations, and the content of the workshops. If directions are required to a particular location, call the number provided for that site. To register, complete the appropriate registration form and return as indicated or contact Bryan Ayres toll-free at 877-533-3600 for further information.
