According to Subtitle B of Title VII of the McKinney-Vento Homeless Assistance Act (42 U.S.C. 11431 et seq.), Section 722(g)(1)(J)(ii), Arkansas shall ensure that each of the 310 local educational agencies (LEAs) will designate an appropriate staff person, who may also be a coordinator for other federal programs, as the local educational agency liaison for homeless children and youth to perform duties described in paragraph 6(A) of the McKinney-Vento Act. The school district shall identify the appropriate staff person as the LEA Homeless Liaison and report to the Arkansas Department of Education (ADE) through the use of the Statewide Information System (SIS) - Arkansas Public School Computer Network (APSCN) in the “Cycle 2 Report” of the “District Record”.
Each LEA Liaison for Homeless Children and Youth, designated under 722(g)(1)(J)(ii), has duties and responsibilities to ensure the rights and services for each child and youth that are experiencing homelessness.
