Ark. Code Ann. 12-12-901 et seq. is Arkansas' version of "Megan's Law," the community notification law that allows law enforcement agencies to communicate with the public when a sexual offender is in their area.
Ark. Code Ann. 12-12-913(g)(1) charges the Arkansas State Board of Education with the responsibility of promulgating guidelines for the disclosure of this information to school district staff, students and parents. Each school district is encouraged to use these guidelines for drafting their own notification policy in cooperation with the area law enforcement.
Attached is a copy of the "Megan's Law" guidelines which were revised and approved by the State Board of Education on October 14, 2002.
