The March 2003 poster contest is sponsored by the Nutrition Committee of the Arkansas School Food Service Association (ASFSA) in collaboration with the Arkansas Department of Education Nutrition Education and Training (NET) Program. The American Dietetic Association National Nutrition Month slogan, "Healthy Eating, Healthy You" is this year's theme. The theme must be on the poster to be considered for judging.
There will be a $50.00 student award for each state level winner in grades K-11 and a $300.00 cash scholarship for the grade 12 state level winner. Each state level winner will receive a trophy. A $100.00 award for classroom art supplies will be presented to the instructor/art teacher of each state level winner. The food service manager at each statewide winner’s school site will receive one paid ASFSA membership dues for the upcoming year.
All posters should be ready for local school judging no later than March 3, 2003, with district judging scheduled prior to March 14, 2003. Winning school district posters for state competition should be delivered to the State Child Nutrition Office or to the area Education Service Cooperative, Teacher Center Coordinator by March 29, 2003. The Child Nutrition Staff will pick the posters up at the Education Service Cooperatives starting April 1, 2003. All posters will be brought back to the Child Nutrition Office where they will be judged.
In order for district winners to be considered for state competition, the attached district ENTRY FORM must be completed and mailed or faxed to the Child Nutrition Office no later than March 21, 2003.
