The spring 2003 course offerings for the Arkansas Department of Education (ADE) Distance Learning Center (DLC) is attached. The DLC will offer the first semester of selected courses including Algebra I for freshmen. For example, if there are seniors who fail the fall semester of English, this is an opportunity to take it again through the DLC. Also, this will enable those students to graduate with their cohorts.
Schools may not know how many students will need to enroll in the spring classes at this time; however, facilitator training is scheduled for December 12. This training is for new facilitators for the spring as well as current facilitators.
Please visit the ADE Distance Learning Center’s Web site at http://dlc.k12.ar.us/dlcclass.htm and click on the Professional Development link. All professional development hours can be obtained through the DLC and will be available using compressed interactive video (CIV). Selected professional development offerings will be available using enhanced audio graphic (EAG) technology. Presently, 30 hours of professional development are scheduled for next summer and additional offerings will be posted in the weeks to come.
