Professional Licensure is currently holding about 250 applications of May 2002 graduates from Arkansas colleges and universities that have not provided the documentation of employment needed to issue the three-year initial teaching license.
If a school district has employed a May 2002 graduate that has not received his/her three-year initial teaching license, please contact the Office of Professional Licensure at 501-682-4342 or e-mail Ron Tolson at rtolson@arkedu.k12.ar.us with the name and social security number of the teacher.
Professional Licensure will review the application and notify the school district of what is needed to issue the license.
December 2002 graduates from Arkansas colleges and universities that have completed all required Praxis II assessments and have cleared the required background checks will receive the eligibility for initial licensure form from their licensure officer. This form will document eligibility for the three-year initial teaching license and specify the licensure area.
The superintendent of the employing school district should complete the bottom part of the form indicating the hire date of the new teacher and return a copy to the Office of Professional Licensure. The three-year initial license will be issued upon receiving documentation of employment and will be valid for three years from date of employment.
