The ASVAB-CEP constitutes “academically engaged time” as defined by the educational Standards of Accreditation. This test may be administered and interpreted during school time.
The ASVAB-CEP assists counselors, teachers, parents and students to objectively measure the students’ interests, skills and aptitudes in technical areas, as well as academic areas, for use in short-term and long-range education, career planning, and goal setting. It assists students in exploring career opportunities in both the military and the civilian career worlds. The ASVAB-CEP has also been newly designed to assist students in high school course planning to develop the skills needed for chosen college and/or career goals in selecting best-fit college majors.
The Arkansas Department of Education supports the American Association for Counseling and Development in recommending that all secondary schools integrate the ASVAB-CEP as a component of the school assessment program.
We commit ourselves to this position, not only because the ASVAB-CEP is a quality evaluation tool offered at no cost but, also, because it is an excellent method of career exploration and is a vital part of the success of our national defense under the present volunteer military system.
