The Corporation for National and Community Service sponsors the National Civilian Community Corps. This program of trained volunteers has had an ever-increasing success rate in support of school programs. The biggest impact has been in tutoring academically at-risk students. In addition, the volunteers have assisted with after-school programs, helped organize Parent/Teacher Organization events, refurbished buildings, built nature trails and school gardens, and supported special curricula initiatives like conflict resolution. The program is grounded in the fundamentals of service learning.
If schools/districts are interested in receiving more information concerning the program and how it can be supportive to school programs, refer to the attached document for contact information.
