Requests are now being received for early release/waiver days for school year 2003-2004. A request for early release waiver days for professional development should include the following:
AN ASSURANCE STATEMENT THAT THE 30-HOUR MINIMUM PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT REQUIRED OF TEACHERS HAS BEEN MET; A SHORT STATEMENT OF NEED FOR PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT EARLY RELEASE/WAIVER DAYS; A COMPLETE DESCRIPTION OF THE CONTENT PLANNED, SHOWING ALIGNMENT OF THAT CONTENT WITH THE GUIDING PRINCIPLES FOR PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT ADOPTED BY THE STATE BOARD OF EDUCATION; AND A CALENDAR OF DATES FOR THE PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT EARLY RELEASE/WAIVER DAYS.
The early release/waiver day’s requests should be sent to Dr. Gayle Potter, Associate Director, Academic Standards and Assessment no later than August 1 preceding the start of school year 2003-2004. After approving the professional development content, the requests for early release/waiver days will be forwarded to the Coordinator of the Standards Assurance Unit for calendar approval and for notification of the applicant school.
