In 2002-2003 there will not be a charge to a local school district’s Title I account for the cost of the Legislative Audit Division performing the audit of Title I programs. As a result of cost savings at the state level, the Arkansas Department of Education will continue to pay the school districts' audit costs from the statewide administrative funds. Retain a copy of this Director’s Communication in local Title I 2002-2003 audit files.
The decision has also been made to pay the local school districts' audit cost from the Arkansas Department of Education’s share of Title I funds in the future. It is no longer necessary to budget for the audit cost each year in the Title I ACSIP plan.
