This Director’s Memo applies only to schools that qualify for the Small Rural Schools Grant (REAP – Title VI) awarded by the U.S. Department of Education. Schools qualify by having the following:
1. Average daily attendance under 600
2. U.S. Census Locale Code of 7 or 8.
Application for these funds is made directly to the U.S. Department of Education via the Web. Funding for the 2003-2004 school year has been awarded and the window for applications is currently available. The Arkansas Department of Education has been informed that all applications must be complete via the Web process on or before July 23, 2003.
The total amount of funding available for each district has not been released. That allocation will be made after interested districts complete the application process.
