Arkansas Board of Education Special Education rules, Section 18, provide a mechanism to reimburse school districts for the costs of educating disabled and nondisabled students in residential placements. Reimbursement is available when educational services are delivered in facilities with programs approved by the Arkansas Department of Education, Special Education. For a current list of programs approved by Special Education, access the Non-traditional Programs link at http://arksped.k12.ar.us.

School districts may access program instructions and forms for the residential reimbursement program at http://arksped.k12.ar.us. Follow the links from Grants and Data Management. During Fiscal Year 2003-04, school districts will be reimbursed for eligible in-state placements at the rate of $55.00 per day. If requests for reimbursement exceed available funds, this rate will be prorated.

Arkansas Board of Education Special Education rules, Section 18, also provide for payment to school districts for the costs of educating disabled and nondisabled students in Juvenile Detention Facilities which have approved education programs. Information on this program, including required forms and budget calculations for each facility, may be accessed by following the Grants and Data Management links at http://arksped.k12.ar.us.
