ARKANSAS READING FIRST announces a professional development opportunity for all second and third grade teachers, K-12 special education teachers, literacy specialists and administrators who work with second and third grade students. Dr. Shane Templeton, co-author of “Words Their Way”, will present “Word Study for Phonics, Vocabulary and Spelling” on September 25 and 26, 2003 (repeated session). Priority registration will be given to educators currently enrolled in the ARKANSAS READING FIRST Institutes.
Participants may choose the session to be held from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., September 25 or September 26, 2003 (repeated session) at the C.A. Vines Arkansas 4-H Center in Little Rock. Call the 4-H Center at 501-821-4444 or 888-821-2544 or log onto www.arkansas4hcenter.org for directions. Continental breakfast and lunch will be provided for registered participants. Other meals, lodging and travel are the responsibility of participating districts. There is convenient on-site lodging at the 4-H Center and at western Little Rock facilities in the area of Shackleford Road and Chenal Parkway (Financial Center Parkway).
