The Arkansas Comprehensive Testing, Assessment and Accountability Program (ACTAAP) requires that alternate assessments be used for eligible Limited English Proficient (LEP) students for whom the criterion referenced testing is inappropriate. The criterion-referenced testing includes the Benchmark examinations at grades 4 (Primary), 6 (Intermediate), and 8 (Middle Level), End of Course Algebra, End of Course Geometry, and End of Level Literacy (grade 11). An alternate assessment has been in place for three years at grades 4, 6, 8, and 11.
In 2003-2004 an Alternate Portfolio Assessment will be implemented for END OF COURSE ALGEBRA AND END OF COURSE GEOMETRY for eligible students with Limited English Proficiency. School district superintendents will receive a request for information about the number of students and teachers requesting to participate in Alternate Portfolio Assessment for End of Course Algebra and End of Course Geometry for eligible students with Limited English Proficiency. Information regarding training for this assessment will be announced.
