The revised Arkansas History Framework goes into effect beginning with the 2003-04 school year. Teachers and administrators should destroy the old Arkansas History framework, and replace it with the revised framework which contains the same five strands as the K-12 Social Studies framework. The revised Arkansas History framework, which contains student learning expectations for students in grades K-12 may be found at http://arkedu.state.ar.us/pdf/arkansas_history_frameworks2.pdf.
In addition to the revised Arkansas History framework, the Arkansas Department of Education (ADE) has created a page of web sites which contain lesson plans, museum education coordinator contact information, primary source photos and maps, and other curriculum materials which may be used to help educators meet ACT 787 of 1997, which requires the teaching of Arkansas History. The links may be found on the frameworks page of the Department of Education web site at: http://arkedu.state.ar.us/curriculum/helpful_links.htm
