The Arkansas Association of Middle Level Education (AAMLE) and Southwestern Bell Company (SBC) are now accepting nominations for the 2004 Shannon Wright Award. All nominations are due to the AAMLE no later than December 1, 2003. An institutional membership is required for nomination. The award will be presented at the AAMLE Annual Conference in February 2004.
The Shannon Wright Award recognizes a middle level school that demonstrates outstanding implementation of best middle level practices, as defined by Carnegie’s Turning Points, and whose students have a history of high academic achievement. This recognition carries with it a $5,000 check from SBC to continue best practices in middle level education.
A middle level school is defined as a school that contains any configuration of grades five through eight.
