Effective November 1, 2003, the Arkansas Medicaid Provider Manual has been amended to allow school districts and education service cooperatives to enroll as Private Duty Nursing providers. This Medicaid-reimbursable service should be of interest to school districts and co-ops that have highly medically-involved students in need of regular medically necessary Private Duty Nursing assistance. Private Duty Nursing services rendered to special education Medicaid eligible students are qualified for Medicaid reimbursement under this program.
School districts and co-ops interested in enrolling as Private Duty Nursing providers should take note of the following:
1. The provider must assure that a Registered Nurse or Licensed Practical Nurse delivers the Private Duty Nursing service(s).
2. A provider application for enrollment as a Private Duty Nursing provider and a Medicaid contract must be completed and approved by the Arkansas Medicaid Program prior to billing for Medicaid reimbursement. Applications may be obtained from the Division of Medical Services (DMS) by calling 501-682-2400 or from the Special Education website at http://arksped.k12.ar.us. Completed applications should be returned to the contact listed above or DMS Provider Enrollment Unit at the address below:
