Arkansas public school districts have the opportunity to receive E-rate Distance Learning discounts by agreeing to participate in the State’s Consortium E-rate Application for Distance Learning Service. This application is a request for discounted service on specific distance learning equipment and monthly circuit charges. No action is needed for those districts that: a) are satisfied with their existing distance learning service; or b) do not wish to apply for distance learning services.
All Arkansas public school districts are eligible to receive E-rate discounts for compressed video equipment and monthly circuit costs associated with distance education. The Department of Information Systems (DIS) will file a statewide consortium E-rate application for districts that respond to this request. The E-rate application window of opportunity is now; therefore, DIS needs to know which districts to include in this application.
NOTE: This discount of approximately 75% does not cover the expenses for end-user equipment or retrofitting a room. These costs would be the responsibility of local school districts.
School districts that want to acquire a discount on distance learning equipment and circuit costs must print out and complete the attached form.
The form is to be faxed to Becky Rains at 501-682-4310.
Deadline to submit form: Wednesday, December 17, 2003
