Arkansas secondary world history, world geography, world literature and art teachers are sought to participate in a noncredit East Asian history seminar sponsored by Columbia University and the National Consortium for Teaching about Asia (NCTA). The seminar, to be taught at the Northeast Education Cooperative in Walnut Ridge, is underwritten by the Freeman Foundation and pays teachers a stipend of $500 upon completion of the 30-hour program and submission of three lesson plans for the teacher's discipline. Registration deadline is February 2, 2004.
Participating teachers receive classroom and library materials about East Asian history valued at $200, and each teacher’s school library receives materials about East Asian history valued at $300.
This program is offered nationwide on a state-by-state basis. This is the fourth year for the course to be offered in Arkansas.
